Different Types of Cosmetic Dental Procedures

Nevertheless, composite restorations are known to be a cheap option in cosmetic dentistry. It is useful in front teeth cavities or fracture cases (chipped or accidental fractures). The results obtained are bewildering and seamless.
Teeth whitening
Bleaching of teeth has been a common cosmetic dental procedure for a long time. With advancement, procedures in teeth whitening have also taken a step ahead. Mostly people suffer from yellow teeth and discolored teeth due to variety of reasons like fluorosis, tea/coffee stainsand enamel hypoplasia. To get rid of this extrinsic or intrinsic discoloration, two options of bleaching the teeth are available. 1. In office bleach 2. At home bleach.
In office bleach provides teeth whitening for a long time. However, if results are not seen after the first visit, two to three visits may be required.
At home bleach allows you to whiten your teeth at your leisure. A customized silicon tray is constructed and a teeth whitening solution is spread over it and fitted in the mouth. One can remove the tray at home if needed and reapply the solution on the tray until the desired result is gained.
Dental Veneers
These are non-invasive and an expensive option for teeth whitening. In dental veneers, a layer of high quality ceramic/porcelain is adhered with the help of luting cement on the front surface of tooth. The procedure includes scraping off of a few millimeters of front surface of the tooth structure so as to make space for the tooth colored dental veneers or laminates. They are very costly and require a lot of maintenance while eating or biting since these may layer off in no time leaving discolored and ugly underneath tooth surface.
Dental implants
Spreading its feet in the cosmetic dentistry, dental implants are one of the most sought-after treatments nowadays. This artificial tooth replacement is a permanent solution to your dental cosmetic problems. However, they are not very cost effective. Dental implants are a highly invasive procedural treatment. The screw of the implant is drilled inside the bone followed by a waiting period of 3 months after which the artificial tooth is fastened on it which shows up in the oral cavity.
